MEET THE TEAM

 

The 2017 Gender Academy Team of the ITC-ILO International Labour Standard, Rights at Work and Gender Equality Programme (ILSGEN)

Benedetta Magri-Short, Manager of the Gender Academy.
Benedetta has worked at ITCILO as an expert in training and capacity building for gender equality in the world of work for some 20 years.  She has managed many large-scale capacity building projects – at international and EU level - and authored toolkits and training materials on this topic. She has particular experience in gender mainstreaming and RBM in development cooperation, participatory gender audits and non-discrimination, and equality at the workplace. Most recently, she has been particularly interested in gender issues in scientific research environments. She believes in the power of participation and collective knowledge generation for social change. A mother of three, she has an academic background in Ethics and Oriental Studies.

Johanne Lortie, Gender Academy co-manager. She is in charge of overall pedagogical and technical design.
Johanne's interest in social justice goes way back. While doing a Master’s degree in sociology in Ottawa, she coordinated the Ontario Public Interest Research Group on environmental and social justice issues.   She then worked as a consultant for many NGOs on gender equality, and as a programme officer for research institutions. Johanne designs and runs training activities that build up ILO constituents’ capacity to deal with gender issues. She runs courses in Turin, in the regions and online. Johanne is also an expert on knowledge sharing facilitation.

Claudia Callegari is in charge of the coordination of the Spanish-speaking activities of the Academy.
With a degree in Political Sciences, specialization in international politics, Claudia worked in private and public sector in managing international projects, economic promotion events and training programmes with Latin America. Claudia jointed the Centre in 2000 for designing, planning, implementing and evaluating European projects. In 2004, she obtained a Masters in Distance Learning at Bocconi University in Milan (Italy)/London University (UK). Her professional experience focuses on issues related to local/business development and gender. She is Argentinean and joined the Gender team in February 2017.

WEB COMMUNICATION / LEARNING ADVISORY

Lisa Leyssens is a learning & technology and communications specialist. She has worked with 10+ UN and European organizations across Asia and Europe. Her biggest professional passions are gender equality, sustainable environment, and innovation in education. She is excited to contribute to the Gender Academy 2017 and to enable participants to learn and share knowledge among each other.

Tania Gatto is the Learning Advisor for the Gender Academy. She has been working at the Centre for the past two years as an external collaborator and has worked as a consultant for other UN agencies (such as UN Women and FAO). She has a master's degree in International Development and in Political Science. She has lived in Chile so she speaks fluently Spanish, English, Italian and a bit of French.  

Tiphanie Baills is in charge of the management of training materials for the Gender Academy. She is also the co-learning advisor regarding course selections. Having recently graduated with a Master degree from the ITCILO in Management for development, Tiphanie is now an intern for the Gender Academy. Being French and Finnish, Tiphanie is fluent in English, French, and Finnish and speaks Italian at a medium level.

Meghan Krenzer is a South African, and has, since 2009, worked as an occupational therapist and program manager in rural primary health and community development in South Africa. Most recently, she worked at a community-based organisation which focused on psychosocial support and income generation for older women in informal employment and who have been affected by HIV/AIDS. She has supervised Occupational Therapy students in the field. Through her experience, she is becoming more aware of the complexities and messiness around development and justice. Meghan has been completing her MSc. In Occupational Therapy, specialising in community development, at the University of Cape Town. The past year she took part in an interdisciplinary scholarship program in Development and International Cooperation in Finland. Her interests lie in how the voices of those that are most affected by injustice and oppression, can join the conversation with regards to decent work; justice; health and well-being; public policy and citizenship. She is currently interning at the ILO, in the Child Labour, Forced Labour & Human Trafficking cluster.

SECRETARIAT

Claudia Fuggiaschi, responsible for the Gender Academy Resource Persons Secretariat and overall administrative assistance. 
Claudia has a background as an interpreter and translator, and works in English, French, Spanish and Italian. She joined the International Training Centre of the ILO in 1997 where she has gained her broad experience as an administrative assistant in training activities and large-scale projects. She is mother of two beautiful children!

Gloria Filippi has been working, as a free-lance, at ITCILO for the last 11 years.
She has more than 20 years’ experience in logistic and events, mainly in France, Spain and Italy.
She speaks fluently, English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian is her mother tongue.
During this Academy she will take care of the logistic and the participants from the ITCILO office, in Turin.

Laura Biscaro joined the International Training Centre of the ILO in April 2006. Since then, she has worked for different training units, providing administrative assistance in English, French and Spanish. In April 2008, she moved to ILSGEN Programme where she is responsible for the coordination and administration of training activities within the Child Labour, forced Labour and Trafficking cluster.

Emanuela Bona has a MA in Political Science - International Speciality. Since 2013, she works as Programme and Administrative assistant at ITC-ILO in Turin. She is in charge of the organisation and management of international training activities. Her working languages are Italian, English, French, Spanish and German.

Laura Carta joined the Centre’s training support staff within the Vocational Education and Training Unit in October 1981. Since then, she has worked for several departments: Financial Services (eight years), Programme Promotion (two years), the Regional Programme for Latin America and the Caribbean (two years) and Enterprise Development (13 years).In October 2006, she moved to the International Labour Standards, Rights at Work and Gender Equality Programme for whom she is responsible for coordination and administration. She holds a diploma in accounting and correspondence in foreign languages. Laura works in English, French, Spanish and Italian.

Federica Morello has worked at the ITC-ILO in Turin as a Programme Secretary since 1996. Before joining the ILSGEN Programme, she provided assistance to the Staff College and other Centre units such as Regional Cooperation (Africa and the ESF Desk), Training and Participant Support, Translation, and Language Training. Her work consists in providing and coordinating all the necessary administrative, secretarial and logistical support relevant to the programme, in collaboration with Geneva, and to training activities both at the Centre and in the field. She holds a degree in foreign languages and literature from the University of Turin. After working briefly as a translator, she became a cashier and administrative support worker at Eurodisney in France until December 1995, when she joined the ITC-ILO.

Federica Bertolino graduated in foreign languages in Italy and Switzerland. She joined the International Training Centre of the ILO in May 1992. Since then, she has worked for different training units. In June 2001, she moved to the ILGEN Programme, where she is responsible for the coordination and administration of training activities. She has a fundamental liking for sailing with her family.
